Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United America. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often consumed too much alcohol and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an area Catholic elementary school, and then began high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
